Iran Air has placed an order with Boeing for 80 aircraft, in a deal valued at around USD16.6 billion.

The announcement follows a memorandum of agreement that was unveiled in June, 2016, and has now been secured within the terms of the US government license which was issued to the aircraft manufacturer in September, 2016.

The agreement is expected to support 100,000 US jobs over the full course of delivery.

The aeroplanes are scheduled to be delivered in 2018.

The contract includes 50 B737s, 15 B777-300ERs and 15 B777-9s.
