On July 05 – 08, more than 40 scientists visited Minsk for The 3rd International Symposium on Euro-Asian Biodiversity, organised by Belarusian State University and Turkey's Pamukkale University.

The 11th Competition of the International Tournament Open Sambo Championships took place in Minsk on February 10 – 11.

Following voting procedures at the 45th General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees in Minsk last quar­ter, 2016 Belarus was elected to host the second European Games in 2019. 

December 24, 2016, Minsk welcomed a museum dedicated to miniature architectural models of Belarusian attractions, located in the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions in Minsk.
