As part of the Cape Town Tourism Halal Chef Exchange programme in collaboration with CresentRating, two local chefs had the opportunity of travelling to Singapore to hone their Halal cooking skills.

A total of 35,000 Muslim travellers participated in a survey that was arranged by Sociable Earth, an organisation that provides practical travel information to travellers who are followers of Islam.

With between 400,000 and 600,000 thousand Muslim visitors arriving in South Africa annually, Halal tourism is a market with huge growth potential for the country that has remained relatively untapped.

More than 80 percent respondents of a survey published by the Muslim Travel Shopping Index 2015, agreed that the availability of Halal food options is significant when choosing a holiday destination.
