Germany’s Incoming Tourism reports Record Result

Germany's incoming tourism figures have reached a record high for the 10th time in a row in 2019. This is according to (preliminary) data from the Federal Statistical Office, 89,9 million international overnight stays in accommodation were registered from January to December.

This represents an additional 2,2 million international overnight stays in comparison to the previous year and an increase of 2,5 percent.

Petra Hedorfer, CEO, German National Tourist Board (GNTB) commente, “Despite the difficult conditions with weaker economic growth in the euro zone, uncertainty about Brexit, trade conflicts and the discussion on climate change, the success story of German incoming tourism continues. Promoting Germany as a quality tourism destination, as well as the consistent implementation of our digital strategy and the targeted selection of marketing topics, has enabled us and our partners to inspire even more travellers in 2019.“
