This year’s cruise season started on March 31, when the first cruise ship of the season, Astoria, arrived from Kiel, Germany docked at Copenhagen Port for the day.
“This cruise season will be Denmark’s best season so far. This means, that we will see many positive effects coming from cruise tourism, like 2,100 full-time jobs and our expected turnaround reaching EUR200 million,” said Claus Bodker, director, Cruise Copenhagen.
Aarhus will, for the first time, reach 100,000 cruise guests, while Skagen is also expected to be doubling its guest numbers this season.
The Danish island Bornholm and city of Helsingør are forecast to increase their cruise guest numbers too, while at Hundested four cruise ships will be calling, introducing more guests than ever before to the picturesque area of North Zealand.
“We are happy to see that the positive development in the cruising industry effects all corners of Denmark, seeing that more cruise guests than ever before are visiting cities around the country,” concluded Bodker.
