In 2016, Slovenian tourism saw record numbers as the 10 million overnight stays mark was exceeded once again.

According to preliminary data of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, 12 percent more foreign tourist arrivals and 10 percent more overnight stays by foreign tourists were recorded in the first eleven months of 2016, placing Slovenian tourism above the European average.

In addition to record results, 2016 saw numerous successfully implemented projects, such as the global digital campaign, Slovenia – Make New Memories, and the launching of the new central Slovenian tourist portal,

Commenting on the results, Maja Pak, director, Slovenian Tourist Board, said, "[…] We achieved and exceeded the objectives set with this year's ambitious marketing plan, which was prepared in partnership with the tourism industry."
