Amadeus IT Group has revealed an accelerated profit growth as a result of positive performance of its distribution system and IT solutions, along with boosting its core business strategy with acquisitions.

The global distribution system (GDS) technology provider achieved adjusted profit of EUR911 million (USD964 million) in 2016, representing a 21.2 percent increase compared to 2015.

This growth was supported by 14.3 percent rise in revenue, to EUR4.47 million (USD4.73 million) along with 16 percent increase in EBITDA to EUR1.7 million (USD1.8 million).

Travel agency air bookings rose 5.9 percent, outperforming GDS industry growth of 3.1 percent.

The IT solutions segment recorded 31.7 percent revenue growth.

As highlighted by Luis Maroto, president, Amadeus IT Group, the acquisition of Navitaire contributed to the growth and to the overall successful financial results.

He further predicted a solid financial performance for the company this year, based on the positive trend of new contracts.
