Robin Terry, CEO, Motown Museum, announced a USD50 million expansion constructed around the existing building, growing the museum to 46,000m2.

Phil Freelon, managing director, architecture and design, Perkins+Will Global, was engaged to lead the execution of the development which will include among others, an art performance theatre, unrivaled recording studios, an expanded retail experience and meeting spaces.

Terry stated, "Our goal is to bring an expanded Motown Museum to the world, to inspire dreams and serve as an educational resource for global and local communities while creating an international mecca of music and entertainment history."

The expansion project of the museum will also include the enlargement of the first headquarters of the company also known as Hitsville U.S.A. house.
