With wineries considered to be crucial to the state’s tourism and agricultural industries, Susana Martinez, governor, New Mexico, has proclaimed August as a month dedicated to wine.

In order to offer a tribute to this important product while also engaging both locals and tourists to wine culture, New Mexico Tourism Department has organised a wide range of events and activities including wine festivals, tasting events, and tours of some of the most popular vineyards in the state.

Commenting on the initiative, Rebecca Latham, cabinet secretary, New Mexico Tourism Department, emphasised, “Our state’s heritage with wine has roots in the ground long before New Mexico was a state, yet most of this history is unknown.”
